ROYAL BLUE RUN - 12 - 14 August 2009
Penzance to Aberdeen
Plans are now progressing for the second Royal Blue coach run this year, the National Centenary Royal Blue Coach Run Penzance - Aberdeen, which is scheduled for 12 - 14 August which also ties into the Scottish Bus Museum Open Weekend on 15 / 16 August. Penzance to Aberdeen was Royal Blue's longest scheduled express service albeit operated under the National Express network in the early 1980s. As was traditional with Royal Blue, it was not unusual for Royal Blue services to have many duplicates from associated fleets and independents so all will be welcome.
First Group
have agreed to sponsor the run and to organise publicity / comfort stops at
Penzance, Plymouth, Bristol (Day 1), Stoke-on Trent, Manchester (Day 2), Glasgow
and Aberdeen (Day 3) and there is a possibility, for early confirmed
entrants, to assist with some fuel for those travelling the full distance. We
are working on details of the route and stopping points. Overnight stops are
likely to be in Stoke and Glasgow to give us time to get to Aberdeen at a
reasonable hour but that does require a long distance on the first day. In
order to get an id
ea
of what we need to organise in the way of stopping points etc we need to know
whether you are likely to be joining in as soon as possible. We understand that
you may wish to join us for only part of the run, which is fine, but we would
appreciate an early response whatever your plans. An entry form is attached on
which you can indicate your likely involvement.
We look forward to seeing you on the run.
