KINGSBRIDGE 7'6" WIDE VINTAGE BUS RUNNING DAY

Saturday 20th September 2008

The Bus Station, Kingsbridge, South Devon

KINGSBRIDGE RUNNING DAY PRESS RELEASE

We are delighted to invite you to this first event organised by WHOTT in the South Hams.  We are organising this vintage bus running day on the day before WHOTT’s annual rally at Westpoint in order to give enthusiasts and bus owners from further afield a full weekend of bus related nostalgia.  With the exception of one former Royal Blue coach which in later life operated for Tally Ho! in Kingsbridge, vehicles in use will be limited to those with a width not exceeding 7’6” (apart from mirrors).  This is necessary because of the width of many of the roads in the area over which we are planning to operate.  However owners of other visiting vehicles are welcome to come to Kingsbridge and we expect to be able to organise additional parking by arrangement – please contact the organisers below if you wish to avail yourself of this.

The routes we plan to use are those formerly operated by the Great Western Road Motors, the Western National Omnibus Company and other local operators such as Tally Ho!  Services to Beesands, East Portlemouth, South Poole, Slapton, Salcombe, Thurlestone, Bantham, Loddiswell, California Cross and East Allington are being scheduled.

To accompany this event there will be a fully illustrated colour programme and timetable which will be on sale on the day and available from the organisers in advance for £5.50 including p&p.  Availability will be announced on this website later in the summer.  There will also be a new WHOTT publication ‘West Country Under-floor Engined Lightweights – A Pictorial Tribute’ to accompany ‘Royal Blue in Preservation’ and ‘West Country VRs – A Pictorial Tribute’ published at previous rallies and still available from WHOTT – see sales.

If you are the owner of an historic 7’6” wide bus or coach, you are warmly invited to complete the entry form and send it to us as soon as possible to ensure inclusion in the event programme and for a duty to be allocated.  If you need more copies please photocopy or download further copies from our website as above.

We look forward to your participation.
