story of a pioneer Devon country ‘bus proprietor,
Norman Ashton of Halwill, as recalled through his staff,
passengers and contemporary accounts. The title is a tribute
to Norman’s services that covered the little visited and
largely unknown tract of country lying between Okehampton,
Launceston and Holsworthy on the Devon and Cornwall border.
First published in 1998 it has now been revised to include
details of Norman’s fleet and those of S Brock of Ashwater,
W Wivell of Halwill and Caracoa Tours Ltd of Folly Gate (and
later Launceston). It also covers Ashtonville Coaches of
Halwill which D & M Perrie continued as successors to Norman
